Meguiar’s Gold Class Liquid Wax Review
I keep asking myself the same question over and over again – Why on earth would someone spend $25 Cdn on a bottle of Meguiar’s Gold Class liquid wax when a bottle of Turtle Wax costs less than $6? At four times the price, is the Gold Class liquid wax four time better? The next day my curiosity had gotten hold of me. So I went out and bought the Meguiar’s Gold Class liquid wax. The more I use it, it becomes clear to me the difference between premium wax and the other regular wax.
The Gold Class liquid wax is less viscous than the Turtle wax that I have used previously. It is a good thing because it takes less effort to apply the wax. Not only that, there is zero residue when it dries, which means there is no need to dust the car afterwards. The Gold Class liquid wax contains a natural ingredient extracted from tree leaves called carnauba. Carnuaba provides a shiny protective coating on trees in tropical areas. It also produces exceptional shine on cars that mam-made ingredients cannot match. The only drawback about Carnauba wax is that the coating does not last as long as artificial ingredients – a negligible problem if you wax your car frequently.

As you can see from the photos, the wax provides great reflectivity even for dark coloured cars.
Is there anything that the Meguiar’s wax can do better? Just a coupe of things – the buffing pad is too small and it is difficult to get a good grip on it even for people with average-sized hands. I gave up using it after accidentally dropping it on the floor and it got all dirty (Obviously, I didn’t want to scratch the paint with the dirty pad). Instead, a 100% cotton t-shirt worked much better. Another thing that annoyed me was that the Gold Class liquid wax needed to be shaken really really really well too frequently. The instructions on the box did mention “shake well before use”. But I wasn’t expecting to shake it after such short period of time like every five minutes or so.
Overall, the Meguiar’s Gold Class liquid wax is a quality product although it is a little expensive in my opinion. It is definitely better than the basic Turtle wax.

Meguiar’s Gold Class is for that person who will take nothing less than perfect. I have been using Meguiars NXT and I have tried Gold Class. Almost the same outcome. I think(my opinion) NXT is a little easier to use, but again, same outcome! I am a Car Guy, so anything that has the Meguiars name on it, is the best you can use!!
