2010 Vehicle Reliability Winners and Losers

Porsche earns top scores in almost every category according to J. D. Powers an Associates.

The J. D. Power and Associates has released a report on long-term reliability of new vehicles. Performance metrics are measured based on “problems per 100 vehicles” (PP100). A lower PP100 score means that the vehicle is more dependable. The study is based on the survey results from 52,000 original owners of 2007 model year vehicles. Read more…

An air filter is an important part of a car’s intake system, because it is through the air filter that the engine “breathes.” An engine needs an exact mixture of fuel and air in order to run, and all of the air enters the system first through the air filter. The air filter’s purpose is to filter out dirt and other foreign particles in the air, preventing them from entering the system and possibly damaging the engine. Read more…

A brand new Tata Nano caught on fire 45 minutes after delivery.

Tata Motors, India’s largest automaker, has an annual revenue of $16 billion US. Tata also owns Jaguar and Land Rover. In 2008, the company released the world’s least expensive production car, the Tata Nano. A brand new Tata Nano is economically priced at about $2200 US, and it has been a sensation in India. People refer to the Nano as “the people’s car”. Tata has plans to launch the Nano in Europe North America in the future. Read more…
