2010 Lexus LS 600h L – Gadgets for Executives

The flagship Lexus LS 600h L is gaining popularity among the wealthy group – for many good reasons.

Think like a Millionare

The ‘base’ 2010 LS 600h L carries a not-so-basic price of $119,950 Cdn.  It is resaonable to assume that buyers of the LS 600h L are successful, wealthy executives or business owners that are over fifty years of age.  They are well established and generally busy most of the time.  So what do these privileged people want from a car?  After a stressful day of work, the last thing they want would be a very ‘involved’ vehicle that requires manual shifting or something with a very harsh ride.  It is definitely fun to drive a Porsche on a day off, but after a hectic day at work, they just want to relax and be as less involved as possible driving back to the mansion.  Bingo!  Here are some features to ease the stress.

Easy Handling

Unlike the European counterparts, the LS is easy to drive.  According to the Kelley Blue Book test drive, it is ‘less engaging to drive’ than a BMW or Audi.  This is perfectly fine because the LS is a luxury sedan.  Buyers are looking for comfort in these types of vehicles and Lexus has certainly gotten this right.  Besides, these people can always pull out the Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini from the other garage should they want better handling cars.

So how ‘easy’ is it to drive the LS?  Technically, the car can be driven without placing your hands on the steering wheel.  Check out this link for a live demo.  It is technically possible but most definitely not recommended.

Self Parking

Believe it or not, the LS 600h L can park itself!  Click here to view a live demo of the Advanced Parking Guidance System (APGS).  Although setting up the system to do so may require some patience.

Milli-wave Radar

The milli-wave radar phased antenna (located behind the front grille emblem) detects vehicles ahead in the same lane. The system reduces the vehicle speed until it matches that of the lead vehicle and keeps the preset distance. If the LS or the vehicle ahead changes lanes, it will gently accelerate until it reaches its set speed.  Finally a device that prevents tailgating.

Concert Hall in a car

Some soothing music would help to relief the stress from a day of work.  The LS comes with a standard 450-watt Mark Levinson Surround Sound System with 19 speakers and 5.1 channel audio.  Just out of curiousity, how many people have 19 speakers at home?

Reliability

It is fairly obvious that Lexus (and Toyota) makes extremely reliable cars.  While the monetary cost of fixing problems is likely not an issue to these people, it is the time and hassles that bother them more than anything else.  Buying a Lexus gives them the peace of mind.

“h” for Hybrid

Again, owners of the LS 600h L isn’t buying a hybrid to save money.  But then, it is always nice to brag about the fact that one drives a hybrid and is saving the environment.  This makes good impression doesn’t it?

Some say money can’t buy happiness, or can it?
